Not another invoicing app. ORYX Business is one place for the work that keeps a business running — selling, buying, paying your people, staying compliant and knowing exactly where you stand.

The platform

One platform. Every part of the business.

Every module shares the same customers, suppliers, products and books, so nothing is typed twice and every number has one source. These are the real screens.

Sell & get paid

From quote to paid.

Professional quotes and invoices, payments recorded against the right documents, and a clear view of who owes you — so getting paid stops being a side job.

  • Quotes that become invoices in one click
  • Invoices and credit notes with your branding, VAT per line, PDF and email
  • Send an invoice by WhatsApp: your customer opens it without signing in
  • Recurring invoices for retainers, rentals and contracts
  • Debtors: age analysis, reminders, follow-ups and promises to pay
  • Customer statements and part-payments

Bills & bank

Every bill captured. Every supplier paid on time.

Snap a receipt or forward a supplier invoice and it is read for you. Bills wait in one list, sorted by what is due first, until you pay them in a single run.

  • Receipts and supplier invoices read from a photo, upload or email
  • Supplier bills, credit notes and payment runs with a bank file
  • Bank statements imported from CSV, PDF or Excel
  • Bank reconciliation: the statement matched to your cashbook, the balance agreed and signed off
  • A cashbook across bank, cash and card accounts
  • Bank alerts forwarded by email become transactions to review

Stock & the till

A till that knows your stock and your books.

Sell at the counter with a barcode scanner, take stock in and count it, and see what it is worth — every sale is a proper tax invoice in your books.

  • Products and services with moving average cost and low-stock levels
  • Serial numbers: scan the exact unit you sell
  • Point of sale: cash, card, split payments, returns, cash-up with X and Z reports
  • Cashier PINs, supervisor approvals and a private link per till
  • Stock received, transferred and counted

Bookings & jobs

Appointments and work in the field.

An online booking page your customers use themselves, staff diaries, and job cards that turn into invoices.

  • An online booking page with reminders and a self-service manage link
  • Staff diaries, services, working hours and walk-ins
  • Job cards with labour, materials, photos and a sign-off
  • One click from a finished job to an invoice

Payroll

Pay people correctly, every month.

South African payroll from the current SARS tables, with payslips your staff can read and the files SARS and your bank ask for.

  • PAYE, UIF and SDL from the current SARS tables
  • Pay runs with review, approval and a locked final run
  • Payslips by email, leave and staff loans
  • EMP201 every month; EMP501, IRP5 and IT3(a) twice a year
  • The bank payment file for net pay

VAT & your accountant

Books your accountant can work with.

VAT returns worked out from your invoices, bills and cashbook, and a proper general ledger your accountant can open — with every figure traceable.

  • VAT201 worked out field by field, on the invoice or payments basis
  • Accountant's area: general ledger, journals, trial balance, income statement and balance sheet
  • Fixed assets: a register with monthly depreciation posted for you, and the SARS wear-and-tear computation
  • Projects & analysis: profit by project, branch or department
  • Period lock so a finished month stays finished
  • Practice tools across all your clients In development

Control

Your books, your rules.

Run several companies under one login and decide exactly who sees what. Important records are locked once they are final.

  • Several companies under one login, each with its own books and VAT number (Business and Plus)
  • Bring your customers, products and invoice history across from Sage, Xero, Zoho Books or Excel
  • Roles for owners, accountants, sales, capture and view-only users
  • Separate payroll, till and bookings roles
  • An audit trail of important actions — who did what, and when
  • An API to connect the other systems you use (Plus)

Your AI assistant

Mienx

Meet Mienx.

She knows your business — and she speaks English and Afrikaans.

Ask her the way you would ask a colleague. She looks it up in your books, does the work, and always asks before anything goes out.

  • “Make an invoice for Bluegum Café and WhatsApp it to them.”She builds it from your products, reads it back, and sends it once you say yes.
  • “Who owes me money?”Who owes what, how long it has been overdue, invoice by invoice — in one answer.
  • “What is booked for Friday?”Appointments, free times and who is working.
  • “Record R450 fuel at Engen.”She records expenses and adds tasks; letters and emails she drafts for you to check.
  • “This isn't working.”She logs a support request with our team for you, and tells you when we've answered.

Talk to her with your voice, too. Included on every plan — the Free plan comes with 20 questions a month.

A conversation with Mienx: she makes an invoice, reads it back and sends it on WhatsApp after the user says yes

Why ORYX

Most businesses run on too many systems.

An invoicing app. A spreadsheet for stock. A shoebox of receipts. Payroll somewhere else, the accountant's package somewhere else again — and someone in the middle retyping numbers between them.

Every handover is a chance for something to go missing: an invoice that was never sent, a receipt that never reached the books, stock that was sold twice. We built ORYX Business to close those gaps — one place where a quote becomes an invoice, the payment lands against it, the stock moves, the VAT is worked out and the payslips go out, without anyone copying a number from one screen to another.

  • Invoicing app
  • Stock spreadsheet
  • Folder of receipts
  • Separate payroll
  • Booking tool
  • Email and WhatsApp
ORYX Business Sell · Buy · Stock · Payroll · VAT · Documents
  • One platformCustomers, suppliers, products and money in one place, with one login.
  • Less duplicationCapture something once. Every module that needs it already has it.
  • Less adminReceipts read themselves, invoices recur, reminders go out on schedule.
  • Clear visibilityWho owes you, what you owe, what is in stock and what is due to SARS — at a glance.
  • Simple by defaultA modern interface that works on a laptop or a phone, without training courses.
  • Grows with youSwitch on inventory, job cards, payroll or bookings when the business needs them.

How the Free plan works

  • Every module, from the first day. Invoices, the till, bookings, payroll, VAT, the accountant's area and Mienx — all switched on.
  • Small limits. Monthly ones (invoices, quotes, bills) start again on the 1st. Customers and products count what you create — deleting one doesn't free a place.
  • Always in view. A bar at the top shows what you've used. Ask to upgrade with one click — once we approve it the limits lift and your data stays exactly as it is.

About us

Built by people who run businesses.

ORYX Business started inside our own businesses.

Like most business owners, we had our important information spread across too many places: invoices in one system, receipts in a folder, stock in a spreadsheet, payroll somewhere else, and the real picture living in email threads and someone's memory.

We kept stitching tools together, and the stitching became a job of its own. So we started building the system we wanted to use ourselves — one that keeps selling, buying, stock, people and tax in the same place, and works the way South African businesses actually work.

What began as an internal tool became ORYX Business. We still use it every day to run our own companies, which is the best quality check we know. Every feature has to earn its place by saving real time for a real business.

ORYX Business is built and supported by JacobsInc.
